Keeping up with Cookie and her crumbs - week 5

biscuit

Here we are at week 5 for the kittens and play just rules the day - in between those important naps of course.
They will sleep for nearly 18 hours a day!  One  reason they sleep so much is because an important growth hormone is released only during sleep.

The girls are now trying their first taste of solid food-While Graham, our little momma's boy, continues to spit it out, of course
preferring to continue nursing

Play dominates most of the waking day for the kittens -It doesn't take much for these guys to get going - even mom likes to join in on the fun on occasion.

And, other times, she just has to take a break and let her tail do the work.

And sometimes play is about learning how to be a cat - here mom's watching carefully while her kitten learns to hunt.

Some milestones for this kittens age:  Their sight becomes fully developed. Their deciduous (baby teeth) are are also coming in and should fully emerge around 8 weeks- and our teething babies are chewing and tasting everything - even their litter. They will have about 26 baby teeth that they will lose when they are around 6 months old.  Grown cats have about 30 adult teeth.
Self grooming also is becoming a more important daily chore  for the kittens.
And finally - it's time to start teaching them litter box basics.
So much to lean in such a short time span!

So keep checking in to watch us continue to grow!

'cause paws down,  we are the cutest kittens ever!
Okay - time to recharge our batteries and get back to growing.
